GH CRANES & COMPONENTS in the biggest tunneling boring machine
Sets a new record in civil engineering.
Bertha, in honor of the Mayor that ruled Seattle between 1926 y 1928 is the name of the biggest tunneling boring machine (TBM) in the world, belonging to company ACS and that will be used to excavate a huge tunnel in the city.
The TBM has a diameter of 17.48 meters. A gantry crane manufactured by GH CRANES & COMPONENTS with 63 ton capacity was installed in the attacking well and its purpose has to do with the logistics of the tunnel and assembly of the TBM.
